What makes life good? When someone asks you casually “Hows it going” or “How you doing?”, what is the usual response? Good. Ok. Been Better. All those answers I have used just today. I have felt “out of it” but not really sure why. Yes, life is doing its usual chaotic spin around me but I felt different. Then a God-sent person named James, my dear friend from Houston, sent me a verse. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. Nd the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:6-7. Wow. That is just what I needed to hear. So then I sat down at my computer in the media center at Miller Motorsports Park, put on my headphones, and started listening to my favorite worship song, In Your Freedom.
Here is a video of the song and the words:
IN YOUR FREEDOM BY HILLSONG UNITED
I search for You God of strength
I bow to You In my brokenness
And no other king could have so humbly come
To save my soul and heal my heart
I have nothing more
Than all You offer me
There is nothing else
That's of worth to me
And I love You Lord You rescued me
You are all that I want You're all I need
I pray to You God of peace
I rest in You My cares released
In Your freedom I will live, In Your freedom I will live
I offer devotion, I offer devotion
For some reason that song brings me back. Every time I hear it, I am refreshed. My joy is restored. I am full of life. I could be living a meaningless life, but instead I have a purpose, a joy, the love and the hope of the truest thing in the world. I could shout it: IN YOUR FREEDOM I WILL LIVE, IN YOUR FREEDOM I WILL LIVE.
If you don’t know this joy I’m talking about or why I am able to have a bad day turn into an absolutely amazing day, just ask. The smile on my face is completely real!!!
